McDowell County Man Charged in Shooting
McDowell County -- January 23, 2025: McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged 27-year-old Elijah Gary Clontz of Marion with felony
Discharging a Firearm or Barreled Weapon
into an Occupied Vehicle. He received a secured bond of $7,500.
On January 7, the office responded to a shooting reported at a local motel . Upon arrival, a McDowell County Detective spoke with the victim who stated they were inside of a parked vehicle on Pinnacle Church Road when someone pulled up in another car and began shooting at them. Multiple shots, were fired, then the suspect drove off.
Upon inspecting the vehicle, bullet holes and shell casings were found.
Clontz was identified as the suspect and arrested on January 8th. During search of his person a handgun was found.
