
Man Charged with First Degree Burglary in Rutherford County
Rutherford County -- On the morning of July 10, 2025, deputies from the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office were sent to a home in Ellenboro in response to a report of a break-in.
An elderly caller said that someone was pounding on the door, trying to get inside the house.
Shortly after, the caller reported that the suspect—later identified as Mathew Todd Stacey—had forcibly gained entry to their residence. The first deputy arrived on the site within minutes of the dispatch and apprehended Stacey without incident. The caller was safe and unharmed.
