“Hands Across the Border” "Booze It & Loose It"
Rutherford County -- August 31, 2024: Rutherford County Sheriff's Office Press Release: This week the Rutherford County
Sheriff’s Office partnered with multiple agencies in the “Hands Across the Border” event that took place along the North Carolina and South Carolina Line.
This event also coincided with the North Carolina Governor’s Highway Safety Program 2024 Labor Day Booze It & Lose It Campaign week. Due to the multi-agency effort in North Carolina and South Carolina a strong law enforcement presence helped reduce the number of motorists drinking and driving in both states. The results of the event that took place on August 26, 2024, are as follows:
Traffic Violations – 24
DWI Investigations – 3
Drug Violations – 9
Wanted Persons – 1
Marijuana Seized – 65 grams
Psilocybin Seized – 4 grams
Methamphetamine Seized – 1 gram
Guns Seized - 1
These statistics do not include charges by our partners in South Carolina which included traffic offenses, felony drug arrests, and illegal possession of firearms.
