Burke County Man Faces Exploitation of a Minor

heriff’s Office received a tip from the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children regarding the alleged distribution of child pornography. 

The Burke County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division began an investigation, ultimately leading to a search warrant being executed at 1607 Hillhaven Circle, Morganton, on August 28, 2024. 

Steven Kyle South was taken into custody and charged with Second Degree Exploitation of a Minor, Failure to Register as Sex Offender, and Possession of Methamphetamine. South is currently being held on $50,000.00 secured bond and he will have a first court appearance on August 29, 2024. This investigation is still ongoing.
