Asheville Police Arrest Habitual Shoplifter
Asheville -- May 17, 2024: Asheville Police Department officers located and arrested a habitual felon with open warrants
for parole violation and larceny.
James Rashanda Nesbitt was taken into custody on May 15th around 10:47 p.m. at an apartment complex on South French Broad Avenue.
The Asheville Police Department appreciates the Buncombe County District Attorney’s cooperation in securing a conviction for habitual larceny in January 2023, for which Nesbitt served a term. Since his release in February 2024, Nesbitt has been arrested twice for larceny in downtown Asheville. The latest charges are currently under investigation.
Since 1992, law enforcement has charged Nesbitt at least 114 times.

Nesbitt was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under NO BOND (ineligible for release) by a magistrate due to the Pretrial Integrity Act and Parole Violation
