Asheville Police Arrest Felon on Gun Charges
Asheville -- May 17, 2024: Proactive enforcement in west Asheville on Thursday afternoon resulted in the arrest of a felon
and the seizure of a handgun by Asheville Police Detectives.
On May 16, at about 5:18 p.m., Shiiquan Dajshon Seshawn McAlpin was found by APD Detectives in the vicinity of the 100 block of New Leicester Highway. McAlpin was arrested after it was discovered that he had violated his parole.
Detectives found that McAlpin had unauthorized possession of a handgun during the arrest. Due to his prior conviction for shooting Deveon Chambers in April of 2021, this is a violation of his parole restrictions. As per the terms of his release, McAlpin was expected to reside in Charlotte.

McAlpin was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under NO BOND (ineligible for release) by a magistrate due to the Pretrial Integrity Act and Parole Violation.
