Two people hospitalized after lighting strike on Blue Ridge PKWY
Maggie Valley, NC -- WCNT reported on FACE BOOK Two people including a district court judge in western North Carolina are hospitalized after a lightning strike on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
A family member told WNCN the incident happened during a micro-burst Saturday at 1:50 pm.
Multimedia report that Judge Roy Wijewikrama of Haywood County is in intensive care at Mission Hospital in Asheville. He suffered serious injuries along with third-degree burns. A woman was also injured and in the hospital.
They were with a group of Boy Scouts in a parking lot along the parkway between Maggie Valley and Cherokee.
Both were recovering.
