
Man Sentenced to More than 20 Years for Drug Trafficking and Gun Charges
McDowell County -- July 28, 2025: Greggory Cole Lowery pled guilty on July 15, 2025, in McDowell County Superior Court to possession of a handgun by a felon and trafficking in methamphetamine (400 grams or more).
Lowery was given a sentence of 225–282 months for the trafficking offense.
For the firearm violation, he was sentenced to an additional 15–27 months in prison. The sentences will follow one another.
The plea deal included the dismissal of several other counts. After local and state authorities conducted a thorough investigation, Lowery was charged with methamphetamine trafficking in November 2024. Methamphetamine weighing 110 pounds, with a street value of $3.8 million, was found in the greatest drug bust in McDowell County history.
