300 Acres Burned in Bee Rock Creek Fire in McDowell County, 0% Contained

McDowell County --  Northern McDowell County is home to the rugged area Bee Rock Creek Fire, which is burning south of Wild Acres Road and north of Armstrong Creek Road.  

According to estimates, the fire has scorched 300 acres with 0% contained.  Firefighters will keep working through the night to safeguard structures and improve containment.

At Wild Acres Road, off NC 226 A, just south of Little Switzerland, all homes and buildings are still under evacuation.   At this point, no more evacuation orders are anticipated.   In the event that conditions alter during the night, the Emergency Alert System will notify inhabitants through mobile devices.
