McDowell County -- The McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged 62-year-old Edwin Lowell Thomas of Marion. Thomas faces the following charges:  (2 counts) felony Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell or Deliver a Schedule II Controlled Substance, felony Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance, felony Possession of Methamphetamine and misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana (up to ½ ounce).

McDowell County -- The U.S. Forest Service reports that the Bee Rock Creek Fire in McDowell County has spread to 1,397 acres and is 27% contained. The fire is being contained by the Woodlawn Fire Department, McDowell County, National Park Service, North Carolina Forest Service, and USDA Forest Service.
