Asheville -- November 27. 2024: Asheville Police Department Press Release: Asheville Police apprehended a man who had forced entry into a residence and attempted to steal items Tuesday morning in Biltmore Village.

Officers responded to a residence on Brook Street in Biltmore Village at around 9:39 a.m. on November 26th to investigate a break-in. Upon arrival, the subject was no longer on the scene. While canvassing the area, the officers located physical evidence left by the suspect that led them to another building. There, they were able to find Dylan Zachary Boyd (04/17/1999). Boyd was then taken into custody without incident.

Boyd was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under NO BOND (ineligible for release) by a magistrate due to the Pretrial Integrity Act. The investigation into this case and similar incidents over the past few weeks in the same area remain under investigation, and it is anticipated that additional arrests will be made. 

We encourage everyone to stay cognizant of the fact that many areas within the city sustained significant damages due to Helene, and that Buncombe County remains under an emergency declaration. APD officers are conducting additional patrols and operations within the flood-affected zones, and entry into these areas by unauthorized persons could result in enforcement action being taken.
