Woman Charged with Murder in Asheville Shooting

Asheville -- October 7, 2024: Asheville Police responded around 12:34 a.m. to Laurel Loop in west Asheville to investigate 

a report of a man with a gunshot wound to the head. Upon arrival, officers immediately provided life-saving measures, and the victim was transported to Mission Hospital. Officers were also able to locate a suspect.

Jessica Barnes Ferland was charged with Attempted First Degree Murder, charges now have been upgraded to First Degree Murder after the victim succumed to his injuries
 
Detectives are releasing the name of the victim, Jaquan Devaughen P Bowen (08/30/1998), following his next of kin being notified of his passing.
