Lake Lure Storm Update

Lake Lure: September 29, 2023L Town of Lake Lure Update: 11 AM: 

1. RESOURCES: The National Guard and more than 40+ agencies are on scene in Lake Lure assisting.
2. POWER: Duke Energy is in Town and working diligently to address the power outages. Some in Rutherfordton have their power restored today so progress is being made.
3. CLEAN-UP: Clearing roadways is a major priority and Public Works is coordinating this efforts with support from other agencies.
- Officials have asked that people stay off of the roads unless they are leaving town.
4. EGRESS/INGRESS for Lake Lure.
- Please do not come to the area unless you absolutely need to be here.
- One lane is now passable through Lake Lure on Memorial Highway; however, traffic is limited.
-Highway 9 is open through Lake Lure to McQuinns‘s store, just passed Sunnyview.
- The Lake Adger dam has been compromised and the road is not passable or safe beyond this point. We have been advised that the bridge will be out for some time.
- We have been advised that there is a route out of Lake Lure on Highway 9 to Big Level Road (in Sunnyview), then take Highway 108 to I-26. We do not have information regarding I-26.
- 64/74 to Rutherfordton is open.
5. DAM: The Lake Lure Dan is stable.
6. CELL/INTERNET SERVICE: Sone are experiencing slight improvements with cell service. We gave requested emergency boosters to assist with access.
