Certain Areas in Black Mountain: May Need to go to Shelter or Relocate
Black Mountain -- September 26, 2024: Town of Black Mountain announced the following on social media: Weather authorities
are speculating the flooding may be as bad, or worse than the flooding in 1916 and 1940!!
We are expecting winds between 20-60 mph and an additional 8+' of rain overnight. There will be flooding, fallen trees, a possibility of land/mudslides, a slight risk of tornadoes, and the possibility of widespread power outages.
@ approx 5:50 PM **If you live along Flat Creek, the Swannanoa River, or any other area likely to flood, we HIGHLY recommend that you relocate to higher ground or go to a shelter for the night. High winds and at least 8 more inches of rain is expected overnight.
