Jackson County Woman Faces Drug Charges

Jackson County -- September 23, 2024: Jackson County Sheriff's Office: On 09/18/2024 at around midnight deputies

were working in the US 74 area of Sylva. Deputies stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation.

Deputies were familiar with the people in the vehicle as they were known to be in possession of narcotics. Deputies called for Police Canine from Sylva Police Department. Sylva Police Canine gave a positive alert to the vehicle. After the investigation was complete deputies located approximately 9.7 grams of suspected fentanyl. The following person was arrested:

Alexandrea Nichole Carpenter:
Trafficking Opium or Heroin
Possession of CS Prison/ Jail Premises
Maintain Veh/Dwell/Place CS
PWISD Schedule II Controlled Substance
Possession of drug paraphernalia
