Hendersonville -- August 26, 2024: Hendersonville Police Department: At approximately 10:00 PM on Friday,  officers with

the Greenville, SC Police Department located and arrested the suspect identified in the August 23 robbery of the SECU located at 90 Commercial Blvd. in Hendersonville, NC.

James Scott Bayne, Jr., age 38, of Greenville, SC, was charged with Felony Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon. Evidence related to the crime was recovered and Bayne was transported to the Greenville County Detention Facility where he is being held awaiting extradition back to Henderson County for arraignment.

This investigation was led by the Hendersonville Police Department with substantial assistance from the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office and the NC State Bureau of Investigation.

“The cooperation of witnesses and excellent investigative work secured the arrest of the suspect within only 13 hours of this crime,” said Hendersonville Police Chief Blair Myhand. “Our partnering agencies committed resources and added tremendous value to the work being done by our investigators. The Hendersonville Police Department will leave no stone unturned in the pursuit of justice against those who intend to victimize our citizens and our community. Our dispatchers, officers, and detectives are deeply protective of this community and its safety. This investigation highlights their professionalism and determination. I could not be prouder of them.”
