Asheville -- May 31, 2024: Officers and detectives from the Asheville Police Department tracked down and arrested

a wanted felon who was wanted for assaulting an officer and for having crack cocaine.

On May 30, at around 1:54 p.m., an officer on regular patrol in the Livingston Street area made an attempt to get in touch with Bruce Edward Smith, who was wanted for failing to appear in court on drug-related charges. Smith attacked an officer during the exchange and left the area.

Smith was taken into custody on open warrants and additional charges related to the earlier incident after APD detectives found him in the surrounding area later that afternoon. He was discovered to be in possession of illegal narcotics during the arrest.

Detectives contacted Dennis Aguilar Scott, who was wanted for violating his parole, later that evening. Scott was apprehended without any problems.

Warrant: Parole Violation

Scott was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under NO BOND (ineligible for release) by a magistrate due to Parole Violation.
