Shooting Death in Waynesville, Suspect Charged
Waynesville -- May 14, 2024: At approximately 8:30 p.m. last night, the Waynesville Police Department was dispatched
to the residence located at 651 Allens Creek Road
in response to a reported gunshot wound. It was discovered that Jason Abram Caldwell, 45, of Waynesville, sustained multiple upper-body gunfire wounds. Despite survival-saving efforts that were initiated at the scene, Caldwell was pronounced dead.
Presently, this investigation is ongoing. As of now, Mr. Hooper is incarcerated in the Haywood County Detention Center, awaiting his initial court appearance at which a bond will be established.
