Asheville Man Charged with Trafficking Drugs Downtown
Asheville -- March 29, 2024: While conducting crime prevention in Downtown Asheville on Wednesday evening,
detectives and officers from the Asheville Police Department arrested a man on accusations of drug trafficking.
At around 5:37 p.m. on Wednesday, officers were conducting crime prevention on South French Broad Avenue and Ralph Street when they attempted to contact Daroyal Delmaine James at the junction.
He began tossing crack cocaine out the window of his automobile into the road as he first tried to elude authorities. James was taken into custody shortly thereafter.

-Possession With Intent to Sell/Distribute Schedule II
-Flee to Elude Arrest w/ Motor Vehicle
-Driving While License Revoked
Seized:
-48.27g of crack cocaine
-3.52g of marijuana
-1DU of Oxycodone
James was booked into Buncombe County Detention Facility under NO BOND (ineligible for release) due to the Pretrial Integrity Act.
