Haywood County -- February 7, 2023: Authorities in Haywood County have determined that foul play was not involved in the case of a man who was previously reported missing.

His body was found beneath a duplex in Clyde. On January 26, 2024, deputies from the Haywood County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to 167 James Street in Clyde in response to a maintenance worker's report of a foul odor, which was deemed suspicious. Deceased human remains were discovered in the crawlspace of the duplex.

Deputies discovery of  Seagraves' remains in the crawlspace provided evidence that he had been there since October 2023. Various personal belongings, including Seagraves' wallet, were discovered at the location, along with drug-related materials such as an empty baggie, a straw, a lighter, and a syringe containing a transparent liquid.

Sheriff Wilke acknowledged difficulties because of Seagraves' body's condition and brought up a future toxicology study in answer to queries. He stressed that there was no sign of foul play.
