Asheville -- January 8, 2024: Detectives with the Asheville Police Department are investigating a shooting in south Asheville on Tuesday night that injured a man but was not life-threatening.

At 9:44 p.m. on February 6, APD Patrol officers responded to a residence near the 35 block of Forest Street to investigate a reported gunshot wound. When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered a man at a house with a gunshot wound to the abdomen and provided emergency medical care to him. Buncombe County EMS transported him to Mission Hospital to be treated.

The man informed investigators that he was walking his dogs outside when gunfire rang out from passing cars. Officers canvassed the area and discovered 9 shot shells and bullet holes at a nearby home.
