Asheville Police: Investigate Shooting on Brooklyn Road

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - (Sept. 19, 2019) - Asheville Police Department (APD) responded to a call just before 3 a.m. this morning regarding a shooting on Brooklyn Road. Officers arrived and a short time later were informed that a victim of the shooting may be located on Kent Street off of Shiloh Road. Once on Kent Street, officers discovered 53 year-old Aaron Maurice Baird shot in the leg and sitting in the passenger seat of a vehicle.

The initial investigation indicates that two unidentified men on foot shot Baird on Brooklyn Road. Baird was transported to Mission Hospital with serious injuries and was last listed this morning as stable. The investigation is ongoing.
