Asheville Police Charge Man with Murder of Canton Woman

(ASHEVILLE, N.C. - August 26, 2019) - Yesterday at approximately 6:30 p.m. Asheville Police Department (APD) responded to a call at 180 Azalea Road regarding a possible stabbing and found 48 year-old Regina Ray Hoglen deceased upon arrival. Witnesses provided information that allowed officers to quickly identify 62 year-old Truitt Norman Nichols as the suspect. APD charged Nichols with first degree murder and he was brought into custody early this morning by Canton Police Department.

The initial investigation indicates that Nichols and Hoglen had been residing together in Canton where Nichols was arrested.
