Water Remains Safe after overflows in Hickory
Hickory, NC -- Press Release -- The City of Hickory had a discharge of untreated wastewater on 06/09/19 of an estimated 185,000 gallons at 2061 Snow Creek Road. The untreated wastewater was discharged into Snow Creek.
General Statute 143-215.1C requires the owner or operator of any wastewater collection or treatment works to issue a press release when an untreated wastewater discharge of 1,000 gallons or more reaches surface waters.
In accordance with that regulation, the following news release has been prepared and issued to media in the affected county:
The City of Hickory also had a discharge of untreated water on 06/09/19 of an estimated 78,000 gallons at 310 Cloninger Mill Road. The untreated wastewater was discharged into Falling Creek.
The City of Hickory had an additional discharge of untreated wastewater on 6/10/2019 of an estimated 80,000 gallons at 12th Avenue SE. The untreated wastewater was discharged into Clark Creek.
This volume of wastewater equates to approximately 1 percent of wastewater treated daily by City facilities.
