
Man Wanted in Buncombe County on Multiple Charges Found with Gunshot Wound
Buncombe County -- August 8, 2025: A man previously considered "armed and dangerous" and wanted on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges has been located and taken into custody, with new details emerging about the circumstances of his apprehension.
Nicholas D.J. Ivers, who was the subject of a search by the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office (BCSO), was found disoriented on a hiking trail and is now recovering from a gunshot wound to the head.
Ivers was located on a hiking trail on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Buncombe County on Wednesday, July 30, by a passerby who notified a Park Ranger. The BCSO was subsequently contacted and confirmed the individual was Ivers.
According to a press release from the BCSO on August 7, Ivers was transported to the hospital by EMS, where he was found to be "suffering from a gunshot wound to the head." He is now reportedly recovering from surgery.
Ivers was wanted on several active warrants, including felony assault by strangulation, felony possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, and misdemeanor assault on a female related to a domestic violence incident. He was also a suspect in a breaking and entering incident on Appian Way, which prompted a response from the BCSO's Special Response Team and Crisis Negotiation Team on Tuesday, July 29.
An investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding his injury and how he was found.
