McDowell County -- August 4, 2025: The McDowell County Sheriff's Office charged two people with felony possession of methamphetamine: Jermaine Tyrone Jackson, 49, and Carlton James Rutherford Jr., 39, both of Morganton.

Jackson was given a $10,000 secured bond, but Rutherford did not get a bond because he was already out on pretrial release.
On July 19, NC Highway Patrol asked Deputy Eudy for help during a traffic check in the Nebo area.

Jackson and Rutherford were both passengers in the car, both of them had outstanding warrants. A later check of the vehicle and its passengers found what looked like meth and marijuana, as well as drug paraphernalia.

Editor's Note: A  criminal charge is an accusation, by law, a person accused of a crime is innocent until proven in a court of law.
