Franklin --  On Tuesday, Franklin Police observed a black motorbike speeding dangerously on West Main Street without a license plate.   After a traffic stop was started, the motorcyclist tried to avoid the police by speeding up.  

The chase started and proceeded through the town and into the community of Holly Springs.  

The motorcyclist tossed a bag of suspected methamphetamine into the creek next to the road before law authorities could halt the vehicle.   Police were able to recover the suspected methamphetamine from the creek and apprehend the motorist without any problems.

he driver was identified as 
Dawson Edwin Phillips age 26 of Franklin.  
Phillips was charged with:
- Felony flee to elude
- Possess methamphetamine
- Driving while license revoked
- No vehicle registration
- Speeding
- Littering- Drive left of center line
- Fail to stop at stop sign/traffic light x 3

Bond was set at $6000 secured.
