Asheville Police Arrest Man on Drug Trafficking Charges

Asheville --  Around 1:19 p.m. on April 20, Asheville Police were called to a complaint of a suspicious car in the 40 block of Monte Vista Road.  In the neighborhood, officers found the car that fit the description.

The driver, Wayne Kenneth Wells Jr. (04/30/1978), was apprehended without incident after officers made contact with him and discovered that he was in possession of a trafficking quantity of fentanyl. A passenger in the vehicle, Brooklyn Ciara Shook (03/01/1995), who was wanted on open warrants, was also taken into custody.

-Felony Possession of Schedule II x3

-Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
-Citation: No Insurance
-Citation: Failure to Register Vehicle
-Citation: Failure to Display Tag
Wells was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $200,000 (or $20,000 to a bondsman) secured bond issued by a magistrate.

-Failure to Appear on 2nd Degree Trespass
Shook was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $500 (or $50 to a bondsman) secured bond issued by a magistrate.
