
BCSO Investigations Lead to 2nd Degree Exploitation of a Minor Pleas
Buncombe County -- Press Release Buncombe County Sheriff's Office: James Woodby pleaded guilty to Second Degree Exploitation of a Minor in Superior Court on March 25, 2025. He was sentenced to 36 months probation and is required to register with the North Carolina Sex Offender Registry.
BCSO Detectives began investigating after receiving a cyber tip provided by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s Network. Woodby was arrested on August 21, 2024.
In a separate case, Peter Binder pleaded guilty to Second Degree Exploitation of a Minor in Superior Court on March 26, 2025 and was sentenced to 36 months probation and is required to register with the North Carolina Sex Offender Registry. This investigation also began after a cyber tip provided by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s Network. Binder was arrested on May 1, 2024.
BCSO is a member of the Internet and Computer Crimes against Children Task force and partnered with the FBI during these investigations.
