Stabbing Suspect Charged in Asheville Stabbing
Asheville -- June 18, 2024: Asheville Police reported an update today on the arrest of Mercedes Margreit Morgan.
Morgan was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility on June 11th under a $75,000 (or $7,500 to a bondsman) secured bond issued by a magistrate and has since been released.

June 3, 2024: Officers from the APD arrived at Mission Hospital at 2:37 a.m. on June 2 to
investigate a stabbing incident in which two women were stabbed many times and had come for medical attention. While the other victim's injuries were not life-threatening, one victim's status remained critical but stable.
Officers concluded that the stabbing was the consequence of an argument between the victims on Atkinson Street. After the assault, one of the victims was able to drive to Mission Hospital, ensuring that both received medical care.
A person of interest has been identified, but detectives are seeking the public's assistance with any information about the stabbing.
