APD: Public Help ID Suspect in Omni Grove Park Inn Attempted Break-In
Asheville -- May 28, 2024: The Asheville Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in
identifying a suspect wanted in connection with an attempted break-in at the Omni Grove Park Inn.
APD officers responded to a report of an attempted room break-in at the Omni Grove Park Inn around 6:22 a.m. on May 22nd. Security advised officers that a guest was awoken by a loud noise in their room, and upon opening their door, they found a white male using a circular and trying to cut open the door latch.
Upon further investigation, security footage showed a man entering the Vanderbilt parking garage at 3:46 a.m. in a silver Dodge Challenger bearing NC temporary tag 29849960. The man then took the elevator to the 7th floor and began to cut the latch on the guest room. After his failed attempt, the man got into the vehicle and left the garage by pushing through the exit gate lift arm. He exited his vehicle to re-affix the lift arm before leaving the property.
