Two McDowell County Residents Face Drug Charges

McDowell County -- May 28, 2024: McDowell County Sheriff's Office: Detective Richard Pittman with McDowell County

Drug Enforcement charged 55-year-old Theresa Lucinda Buchanan with felonious Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance, felonious Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell or Deliver a Schedule I CS, felonious Maintaining a Dwelling for a CS, and felonious Possession of a Schedule II CS. Buchanan was issued a $50,000 secured bond.

Detective Pittman also charged 49-year-old Robert Ray Woody with felonious Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance, Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon, and felonious Possession of Methamphetamine. Woody was issued a $40,000 secured bond.

An investigation began in October of 2023 when reports of high drug activity around the couples’ residence were made to the Sheriff’s Office. On May 16th, McDowell County Drug Enforcement Detectives and SWAT team members from the Sheriff’s Office and Marion Police Department executed a search warrant on the residence. The search turned up fentanyl and methamphetamine.
