Two People Face Felony Charges in McDowell County
McDowell County -- January 8, 2024: The McDowell County Sheriff's Office announced the following:
McDowell County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement charged:
38-year-old Christopher Michael Claxton with felonious
Trafficking Opium or Heroin
2 counts of felonious Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance
felonious Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell and Deliver a Schedule II CS
felonious Possession of Marijuana, felonious Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell and Deliver Marijuana
felonious Possession of a Schedule I CS, felonious Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell, and Deliver a Schedule I CS, felonious Maintaining a Dwelling for a CS and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. Claxton is being held without bond.
Detective Pittman also charged 36-year-old Ashley Renee Black with felonious Possession of Methamphetamine, felonious Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance and felonious Maintaining a Dwelling for a CS. Black was issued a $30,000 secured bond.
On November 29th, detectives searched a residence on Mill Creek Rd in Old Fort shared by the suspects. The search turned up approximately 373 grams of methamphetamine, 465 grams of marijuana, 129 grams of fentanyl, and 4 guns.
The McDowell County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the U.S. Marshals Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force.
