Community Comes Together to Help Family Loses Mother and Daughter in House Fire

Macon County -- November 7, 2023:  A house fire over the weekend resulted in the tragic deaths of a young mother and her daughter, leaving the young family and local community in a state of shock.

Luna Welch, four-year-old daughter, and her mother, Valerie Welch, aged 26, perished in the fire that occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Saturday. The incident took place at a residence in the Wide Horizon hamlet of Franklin, as confirmed by Captain Jonathan Phillips of the Macon County Sheriff's Office.

Husband Forrest Welch and his 2-year-old son Silas both survived.

The GoFundMe campaign was established to assist the Welch family is progressing towards achieving its objective of $85,000.
