Asheville -- August 21, 2023 -- Asheville Police Department detectives charged and detained five suspects in connection with a shooting at Maple Crest Apartments.

The shooting occurred on July 5, 2023, and almost claimed the life of a young man. On August 15, APD Detectives and Officers worked with local and state partners to apprehend five of the individuals. 

The inquiry is still underway, and additional charges are possible.

Harris was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $750,000 secured bond (or $75,000 to a bondsman) issued by the magistrate.

Grant was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $35,000 secured bond (or $3,500 to a bondsman) issued by the magistrate.
Dalarion Gemarcus Searles
-Warrant: Discharge a Firearm from an Enclosure to Incite Fear
-Warrant: Discharge a Firearm within City Limits
-Warrant: Carrying a Concealed Gun
Searles was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $55,000 secured bond (or $5,500 to a bondsman) issued by the magistrate.
Tarrell Maurcus Harris 
-Warrant: Aid & Abet Discharge a Firearm from an Enclosure to Incite Fear
-Warrant: Parole Violation
-Charged: Possession of Firearm by Felon
-Charged: Possession of a Stolen Firearm
Due to his arrest, Harris is being held without bond due to violating parole conditions related to a charge of attempted first-degree murder.
Harris was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under NO BOND (ineligible for release) issued by the magistrate.
Tyquan Jahlil Ward
