Man charged with murder after body found in trunk of car
HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. (AP) — Police in North Carolina have charged a man with murder after finding the body of a slain woman in the trunk of a car he was driving, authorities said.
North Carolina State Highway Patrol troopers first pulled Lance Gordon over for speeding in Edgecombe County last Friday, authorities told news outlets Monday.
Troopers took the 32-year-old into custody on an outstanding warrant, and he told authorities he was driving a vehicle owned by an acquaintance named Angela Lee, officials said.
Investigators became suspicious after they weren’t able to make contact with the woman Friday or Saturday, and Holly Springs police later discovered the 47-year-old’s remains in the trunk of her vehicle during a search, according to the departme
Authorities did not comment further on the circumstances leading to her death.
Gordon was also charged with vehicle theft and jailed, news outlets said. It’s unclear whether he has an attorney who can comment on his behalf.
