
Asheville Police Arrest Assault Suspect
Asheville -- Early on Saturday morning, Asheville Police Officers and K9 Macho arrested a man who tried to break into a homeowner's home near Biltmore Village and assaulted him with a handgun.
At around 1:14 a.m., officers were called to Warren Avenue to look into an allegation of a person carrying a pistol.
Officers arrived to find that a man named Matthew John Kinsella (August 27, 1987) had tried to break into a house and had been accosted by a homeowner. Kinsella escaped into a neighboring forested area after striking the homeowner with the butt of a shotgun. Officers used drone technology to find him hiding in dense undergrowth and told him to turn himself up. Officers followed K9 Macho to Kinsella's location and he was arrested. Close by was the shotgun used in the break-in. K9 Macho led officers to Kinsella’s location, and he was taken into custody. The shotgun used during the break-in was located nearby.

Kinsella was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $70,000 (or $7,000 to a bondsman) secured bond issued by a magistrate.
