Macon County --  More than $5,000 worth of sporting goods and tools were reported taken from the Robert C. Carpenter Macon County community center on May 19, 2025.

After examining the CCTV footage, it was determined that Andrew Lee Tallent was the culprit who had stolen the things.

A warrant was issued for Tallent's arrest.

Deputies from the Macon County Sheriff's Office stopped a pickup that was identified as belonging to Tallent on June 4 when they were on patrol in the Cowee neighborhood.  Approximately 1.9 grams of suspected methamphetamine and accessories were discovered in the car after a search.

After being placed under arrest, Tallent provided the investigating police with the whereabouts of some of the stolen goods from the Robert C. Carpenter community center.  Deputies found the stolen goods after going to the provided location.

Editor's Note: A  criminal charge is an accusation, by law, a person accused of a crime is innocent until proven in a court of law.
