McDowell County Man Stopped at Checkpoint Had Warrant

McDowell County -- The McDowell County Sheriff’s Office Community Impact Team charged William Ray Messer, 57, of Marion with felony Possession of Methamphetamine.

He was issued a secured bond of $5,000.

On May 31, MCSO detectives conducted a checkpoint on Lake James Road. During this time, a truck with two occupants including Messer, was stopped. It was discovered that Messer had a warrant for his arrest and a search of the vehicle ensued.

Detectives found a suspected amount of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and marijuana. Messer received misdemeanor charges for the marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
