Hendersonville --  Downtown Hendersonville is buzzing with anticipation as the Friends of Downtown Hendersonville prepare to reveal 20 brand-new, creatively adorned bear statues for the beloved annual Bearfootin' Art Walk.

The public is warmly invited to witness the unveiling ceremony on Wednesday, May 7th, 2025, from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM at the outdoor Welcome Center Stage, located at 201 South Main Street.

This year's reveal promises a unique glimpse into the heart of the project. Attendees will hear the stories behind each bear's unique design, delving into the artists' inspirations and learning about the missions of the local non-profit organizations selected by the sponsors to benefit from the program. It's an opportunity to connect with the art and the community spirit that brings this event to life. For maximum comfort during the presentation, guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs.

A key partnership continues this year with the Blue Ridge Community College Collision Repair Refinishing Technology Department. Students from the program, under the guidance of instructor Brian Foster, lend their expertise and state-of-the-art facility to apply the durable automotive finishing coats that protect the bears and make their colors pop. "Working with Blue Ridge is always a fantastic experience,” said Terrye Jacobs, Downtown Event Coordinator for the Friends of Downtown Hendersonville. “Program instructor, Brian Foster, has been an incredible partner, encouraging community participation from his students in taking care of our bears! Their crew will be on site at the Reveal to help kick off the Art Walk!”

Following the May 7th unveiling, these charming bears will take up residence along Main Street, delighting residents and visitors throughout the summer and early fall. The Bearfootin' program is more than just public art; it's a significant fundraiser for local charities. Since the auction component began in 2016, an impressive total of over $523,000 has been raised and distributed to area non-profits.

Mark your calendars! This year's bears will be auctioned off virtually, with bidding opening on September 25th and concluding on October 25th, 2025. Stay tuned for further details on how to participate.

The Friends of Downtown Hendersonville extend special thanks to Bryan Byrd (HendoEmcee) and Lew Holloway (Community Development Director, City of Hendersonville) who will serve as co-Masters of Ceremony for the unveiling event.

The Bearfootin' Art Walk is just one of the many events organized by the Friends of Downtown Hendersonville (a 501c3 non-profit) aimed at enhancing the vibrancy of the Main Street and 7th Avenue Districts. They also bring the community popular events like the Hendersonville Farmers Market, Rhythm & Brews, Garden Jubilee, and various holiday celebrations.
