Leap Frog Tours has partnered with Haywood County’s resident haunting history buff, Dannehl Strautz, of Tours by Dannehl, to share some spooky stories from Waynesville’s slightly sordid past. The three tours are available at various dates and times throughout October, and there’s a little something for every level of fright.

Cemetery Hayride & Ghost Tour
This tour is ideal for families with kids eight years and older. With a hayride to an old cemetery at the beautiful Appalachian Farm on Qualla Road in Waynesville, guests will arrive at a campfire to enjoy cookies and cider while listening to ghost stories and legends about Waynesville.

Takes place on several Sundays in October – 10/15, 10/22, 10/29
Start time – 6:30
Approximate duration – 3-hours
Cost – $35 per adult, $25 for kids ages 8-12
Hauntingly Terrifying & Tragic History Tour
This driving tour will take guests throughout Waynesville proper to hear the creepy side of Waynesville’s history. From Green Hill Cemetery to the Pigeon Street Hospital as well as several other stops, tour guests will learn about murders, ghosts, and the “blue death’s” (the Spanish flu’s) effect on Haywood County. This tour is ideal for those 16 and older and involves some walking.

Takes place on several Fridays in October – 10/6, 10/13, 10/20
Start time – 8:00
Approximate duration – 2-hours
Cost – $35 per person
Waynesville Paranormal Tour
If you’re intrigued by the spirit world, this tour is for you! We’ve team up with the TLC Sisters of the Paranormal from Canton to tour several locations in Waynesville that are thought to be haunted, such as the Mountaineer Publishing building and the courthouse square. Dannehl will tell tour guests the spooky–and sometimes tragic–history of each location, and the TLC Sisters will use their paranormal ghost-hunting tools to investigate and possibly connect with the spirits. This tour is ideal for those 16 and older and involves some walking.

Takes place on several dates in late October – 10/26, 10/27, 10/28, 10/31
Start time – 8:00
Approximate duration – 3.5-hours
Cost – $70 per person
We hope to see you on these spooktacular tours!
