Beech Mountain Resort will officially celebrate their two new Doppelmayr chairlifts on Saturday, December 1st.Join Boone Area Chamber of Commerce at 4:00 p.m. for a ribbon cutting ceremony at lift #5. Shortly to follow we will have a ribbon cutting ceremony for lift #6.

Following the event Beech Mountain Brewing Company will hold a celebration in the Brewhouse.

Lift 5 will now include the addition of a loading conveyor to ensure safe boarding, higher travel speeds and shorter trip times. Lift 5 will offer 144 chairs with a 6-1/2-minute travel time accommodating 2,400 people per hour.

Lift 6 will feature 106 chairs offering a 6-1/2-minute travel time with a capacity of 2,000 people per hour.

Sun Belt Conference

The 2018 Sun Belt Conference Football Championship Game is set for three hours of live programming on ESPN3, providing wrap-around coverage of the Saturday, Dec. 1 matchup between Appalachian State and Louisiana in Boone, N.C.

The day’s coverage kicks off with a two-hour pregame show beginning at 10:00 a.m. ET/9:00 a.m. CT and closes with a one-hour postgame show immediately following the game. Both shows, presented by Louisiana Seafood, New Orleans Tourism Marketing Corporation, Dole Food Company and Crystal Clear Imaging, are slated to originate from Duck Pond Field outside Trivette Hall on the Appalachian State campus.

Hosted by J.D. Byars and Wayne Gandy, the pregame show will take an in-depth look at the Mountaineers and Ragin’ Cajuns with analysis, season highlights, features and interviews and the postgame show will recap the game and showcase live coverage of the postgame awards ceremony from Kidd Brewer Stadium.

The tentative interview schedule for the pregame show is:

Appalachian State (9-2, 7-1 Sun Belt) hosts Louisiana (7-5, 5-3 Sun Belt) in the inaugural Sun Belt Football Championship Game on Saturday, Dec. 1 at Noon ET/11:00 a.m. CT on ESPN immediately following College GameDay.

Annual Town of Boone Christmas Parade

Celebrate the holiday season in Boone!

The annual Town of Boone Christmas Parade is set for Saturday, December 8th. The parade starts at 11:00 am and will travel through the heart of downtown Boone on King Street with lots of treats and surprises for everyone. Santa and the Christmas elves may even make a special appearance!

After the parade, head up to The Jones House to warm up with hot cider and cookies with Santa Claus from 12 - 4 PM
