Haywood County -- May 23, 2024: Haywood County Government: Haywood County is thrilled about the development of the Raccoon Creek Bike Park,

poised to become a premier recreational destination in our area! The future park promises to blend leisure, adventure, and conservation seamlessly for generations to come.

The beginning of this project stems from extensive public engagement conducted by Haywood County in 2021, soliciting input from residents on their vision for recreational facilities. In response to this feedback, Haywood County crafted a comprehensive Bike Park Master Plan, ensuring that the park caters to diverse interests and age groups.

The park's Phase One rollout promises an array of amenities, including a bike pump track, skills courses for various proficiency levels, an adventure playground, picnic pavilions, and ample open space. With its picturesque mountain vistas and the possibility have a Red Bull certified competition grade pump track, this park has the potential to attract thousands of overnight visitors.

Looking ahead to Phase Two, the Raccoon Creek Bike Park aims to further expand its offerings by leveraging additional space to develop 3-4 miles of backcountry mountain biking trails, enriching the region's outdoor landscape and cementing its status as a haven for adventure seekers.

Phase Two will be funded and made possible through a public campaign. The public will be able to make donations through the recreation's activity sign-up site, accessed at this link (https://secure.rec1.com/NC/haywood-county-nc/catalog). These donations will allow the donor to be remembered as part of the park's history through engravings upon the Donor Tree sculpture. This 3D sculpture will be located in the heart of the park.

"We are incredibly excited about the Raccoon Creek Bike Park and the opportunities it presents for our community," remarked Elli Flagg, Haywood County Director of Recreation. "Not only will it enhance recreational options for residents, but it will also position Haywood County as a premier destination for families, BMX riders, and mountain bikers across the region."

Haywood County invites individuals and organizations to become integral contributors to the park's legacy. With various sponsorship levels, supporters can play a pivotal role in shaping the future of outdoor recreation in Haywood County.
