NCWRC Stocking Trout in Western North Carolina

WNC -- November 27, 2023: Stocking Trout in North Carolina

Between November 29 and December 21, 2023, the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC) plans to stock over 67,000 pounds of trout in the state's piedmont and mountain regions. Many waterways, such as rivers, lakes, and streams, will be stocked with trout.

Locations

The trout will be stocked in the following counties:

Jackson
Macon
Buncombe
Transylvania
Species

The trout that will be stocked include brook, brown, and rainbow trout. The trout will be at least 10 inches long.

Harvest Limits

Anglers can harvest up to seven trout per day in impoundments with no bait restrictions or minimum size limits.
