ROANOKE, VA. (AP) — A fatal stabbing on the Appalachian Trail has led the nonprofit that manages the trail to revise its website for reporting safety issues and suspicious incidents.

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper is using the power of his pen again to promote policies his administration considers supportive of women in the workplace and family-friendly.

Cherokee County -- A district court ruled after a Feb. 28, 2018, District Court hearing at the Cherokee County Courthouse in Murphy that the county’s Department of Social Services was forcing parents to sign unlawful documents.

Asheville -- Asheville Police Department  has arrested Mark Wayne King (60), of Asheville, for two counts of Indecent Liberties with a Child. King has previously been convicted of this crime and is a registered sex offender.

Asheville, NC -- Jeremy Price, 31, of Asheville died in California. His family needs to bring his body home and has setup a Go Fund Me page.

May 8 around 12 PM, the local fire department noticed Amanda's white Toyota RAV-4 vehicle in the parking lot of the Kahakapao Trail. On this day it was not known that she was missing. On the next day when she was reported missing, it was located there with her belongings in it, her wallet and cell phone - but not her Teel Aasics running shoes.
