Asheville -- April 13, 2022:   The Asheville Police Department is investigating a shooting fatality that occurred shortly before midnight Tuesday in a west Asheville area. Around 11:30 p.m., APD officers were summoned to the 300 block of Fairfax Ave., Tuesday night where they discovered Lamichael Shawn Carter, 27, deceased in the street.

Haywood County -- April 13, 2022: Haywood County Sheriff's Office announced in a news release on Tuesday that officers saw a late model Ford flatbed heading westbound on I-40 on April 2nd, towing an ATV that was not properly fastened. During the traffic stop, deputies discovered 264.5 grams of methamphetamine, 3.7 grams of fentanyl, and numerous narcotics paraphernalia in the vehicle.

Asheville -- This week, Friday and Saturday,  the United States Billie Jean King Cup team will host Ukraine for the third time in five years Asheville to when it hosts Ukraine with a spot in the 2022 Billie Jean King Cup by BNP Paribas Finals.  The USTA has chosen Harrah's Cherokee Center to host the qualifying tie on April 15-16.
