Two McDowell County Residents Face Drug Charges

McDowell County -- March 20, 2024: McDowell County Sheriff's Office Report: Detective Richard Pittman with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement

charged 58-year-old Steve Allen Buchanan with felonious Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance and felonious Obstructing Justice. Buchanan was issued a $30,000 secured bond.

Detective Pittman also charged 68-year-old Sandra Capps with felonious Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance and felonious Maintaining a Dwelling for a Controlled Substance. Capps was issued a $30,000 secured bond.

On March 15th, McDowell County Drug Enforcement Detectives and SWAT team members from the Sheriff’s Office and Marion Police Department executed a search warrant on a residence in Marion shared by the suspects. The search turned up methamphetamine.
