Henderson County Declares State of Emergency

Henderson County declared a State of Emergency  Sunday night at 7:00 p.m. due to the Poplar Drive brush fire that has affected more than 400 acres in the county.

“This afternoon the County declared a State of Emergency in support of our partner Volunteer Fire Departments and the Sheriff’s Office,” said Henderson County Manager John Mitchell. “The declaration will give the County the tools we need to protect life and property. The Poplar Drive Fire in Henderson County has expanded to a size of 431 acres after the effective execution of strategic firing operations on Sunday. The fire's containment level stands at 5%. Percent containment refers to the portions of the fire perimeter where there is no immediate risk of the fire spreading beyond the control of firefighters.
