Hickory -- August 28, 2023: A Hickory Man was arrested, and charged with felony burglary and aggravated assault

by the McDowell County Sheriff's.

On August 19th, deputies responded to an assault call in Old Fort. Both victims had injuries and there was evidence of a break-in when they arrived. The victims told deputies that the male suspect, identified only as Mauldin, had barged into their home and started a fight. Mauldin ran away before the sheriff's deputies could arrive. Hickory Police Department officers apprehended him shortly after.

Clifford Brian Mauldin, 43, is charged with felonious Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury and felonious First-Degree Burglary. He was given a $175,000 secured bond.
