Asheville -- August 26, 2023: On Tuesday officers in the Asheville Police Dept arrested a man wanted for armed robbery.

The suspect had threatened restaurant staff in West Asheville with a knife and demanded money and food.

At approximately 9:21 a.m. on August 22, APD officers responded to a restaurant in the 135 block of Smokey Park Highway in reference to an attempted armed robbery. Employees called the police to report that a man had come in demanding food and money. He then pulled a knife from his pocket and threatened to attack the workers if they didn't feed him. He quickly left the restaurant.

Officers were able to identify Trey Bartley Orr, who was found in the neighborhood, thanks to the witness's description and CCTV footage. Orr has been arrested without incident and is being held on a charge of attempted armed robbery.

Orr was sent to the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $10,000 bond.
